Fructus cannabis, commonly known as hemp seeds, is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herb mainly distributed throughout all parts of China. It is often used to treat digestive diseases, such as dry bowel constipation, laxation, vomiting, and other symptoms. According to the Compendium of Materia Medica, it is recorded that hemp seeds replenish 'qi,' benefit the large intestine, alleviate wind-heat dryness, and relieve vomiting and rebellion. The main nutrients of hemp seeds come from hemp seed oil, hemp seed protein, starch, and fibers.
Commercial hemp seeds contain an average of 30-35% protein, of which 60-80% is edestin, with the remainder being albumin. Hemp seeds are the most abundant natural source of immunoglobulin, thus significantly increasing serum total protein and serum albumin levels in our blood system.
